Im Jahr 1868 trafen weitere Verwandte in Freeport ein: Xaver
Lampert, ein Neffe der oben erwähnten Geschwister Lampert, dessen
Frau Karolina, geborene Schädler, ihr Sohn Julius sowie Xavers
Schwester Justina. Xaver starb bereits vier Jahre nach der Einwande-
rung, so dass Karolina gezwungen war, ihr Schicksal allein in die Hand
zu nehmen. Sie tat es mit Erfolg und wurde darüber hinaus zu einer
wichtigen Anlaufstelle für weitere Triesenberger Auswanderer, denen
sie beim Start in der neuen Heimat mit Rat und Tat beistand.“°
Noch bevor allerdings in den achtziger Jahren weitere Auswande-
rer nach Amerika aufbrachen, begann sich die kleine Triesenberger
Kolonie aufzulösen. 1874, 24 Jahre nach ihrer Ankunft in Freeport,
entschlossen sich Xaver und Alois Lampert, weiter nach Westen zu
ziehen.” Xaver Lamperts Schwiegersohn Josef Banzer“°® hatte sich
schon zuvor in der Nähe von Portland (Oregon) niedergelassen, wohin
ihm nun seine Verwandten folgten. Bereits ein Jahr später zogen auch
die Schwestern Barbara Beck-Lampert mit ihren Töchtern sowie Justi-
na, die sich inzwischen mit Alois Gassner aus Triesenberg verheiratet
hatte, nach Oregon.“°
So hielt es denn auch Alexander Lampert, der 1882 mit seiner aus
Württemberg stammenden Braut Juliana nach Freeport ausgewandert
war, nicht lange dort. Bereits am 27. Januar 1884 schrieb er an seinen
Bruder: «Ich bin nun hier im Staate Oregon und habe mir hier mit
Franz Josef Frommelt“” ein Stück Land gekauft, verlege mich nun
wieder auf Bauerngeschäft. Es ist ein grosses Stück Land, misst 178
